Teen charged with sending nude pictures of herself to herself

I just don't understand how the prosecutor can actually believe they are doing the right thing. You may disagree with the girl in sending the picture, but that is purely a person choice disagreement. What I don't get is the leap from disagreeing with a personal choice to making it a felony and force the girl to register as a sex offender.

The story

I think recursion in programming is really interesting, but recursion in the law is troubling.

Sorry to intrude, but I thought that you might be interested in the most popular anarchist show on the Web, Freedomain Radio -- http://www.freedomainradio.com.

From the news article -
'If convicted, the girl could face a sentence of anywhere from probation to several years in a juvenile detention center. A judge also has the discretion to make the girl register as a sex offender under Ohio law. '

Whats she is accused of doing fits Ohio's definition for the Felony crimes. Yes, if she did do it, it would probably be best to deal with this via counciling or better parental guidance but that's how they 'roll' in Ohio.

She could have charges stayed with an ordered to attend counciling and not have to register as a sex offender, amounting to no criminal record.

What is odd that its been taken to court - the girl denies she did it(see news clip), wont admit guilt, therefore forcing the Ohio legal hand to make the point.

-my 2 cents.
